At The Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation Center we pride ourselves in guiding each patient to achieve a successful and long-lasting recovery. Whether you’ve come to us because of a sports injury, balance issues, to relieve pain from arthritis or another chronic condition, or before or after a surgical procedure, we offer a customized plan that provides a clear roadmap for your treatment goals. In the interest of helping our patients get the most out of treatment, here are a few common mistakes PT patients make, and how to avoid them: Failure to Communicate: A patient must be open and honest with us if they are experiencing pain or discomfort, or any other concerns during treatment. If you don’t speak up, we can’t help! Not Being HEP: Consistently following the Home Exercise Program we’ve prescribed is one of the most crucial aspects of physical therapy. Failing to adhere to HEP can significantly delay your progress. Not Making a Commitment: If you skip follow-up appointments, we cannot monitor your progress and make the adjustments necessary to provide optimal results. Commit to win! Overdoing It: While we understand you’re anxious to see results, pushing yourself too hard can lead to a setback or even an injury. Stick to our customized plan, which lays out just how and when to increase activity. Not Listening to Your Body: If you’re experiencing pain or discomfort, your body is sending you a signal that you’re pushing too hard. Ignoring that signal can lead to an injury or re-injury. When it comes to healing and strengthening your body, our training and experience will make all the difference. At The Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation Center our entire staff is with you every step of your journey to recovery, from the moment you arrive for your first evaluation, to your final session. The one-on-one attention each patient receives is what has made our practice the gold standard in our field. Please contact us today to start your journey!
