Yaser Albataineh MD

Yaser Albataineh MD is a physical medicine and rehabilitation specialist focused on optimizing patient mobility and function.

Dr. Albataineh is a fellow local and grew up in Bergen County. He completed high school at the Academies@Englewood, his undergraduate studies at the New Jersey Institute of Technology and his medical education at Rutgers Robertwood Johnson Medical School. He went on to complete his intern year in Internal Medicine and specialty training in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Albany Medical Center.

Dr. Albataineh is a physiatrist, or rehabilitation specialist, who focuses on the use of exercises, modalities, medications, prescription equipment and in office procedures to help patients remain as active as possible regardless of diagnosis and when possible, avoid surgery. He sees patients for muscle, nerve or tendon problems which may be long-standing or new injuries. He also can aid in the rehabilitation needs of patients with amputation, spinal cord injury, stroke, brain injury, neurologic disease and cerebral palsy. When these processes cause tight muscles, called spasticity, he can treat spasticity with injections of botulinum toxin into the muscles under ultrasound or e-stim guidance.

In his spare time Dr. Albataineh enjoys spending time with his family and two children, traveling, and playing sports

  • Co-Investigator - Sunnyview Rehabilitation Hospital, Department of PM&R, Schenectady, NJ (2019-Present) Completed case series on implementation of high intensity gait training program in the acute rehabilitation setting. Participated in IRB approval for randomized control trial to implement high intensity gait training on a stroke unit in the acute inpatient rehabilitation setting.
  • Co-Investigator - Sunnyview Rehabilitation Hospital, Department of PM&R, Schenectady, NJ (2019-Present) Quality improvement and patient safety report that evaluated the impact of scheduled activity outside of therapy hours by nursing staff on a stroke and spinal cord injury unit.
  • Co-Investigator - Albany Medical Center, Department of PM&R, Albany NY (2019-Present) Under mentorship of Dr. George Forrest MD, currently examining substance use/abuse habits of patients in a primary care clinic in Albany, NY. Examining the long-term trajectories of substance abuse progression in a large longitudinal data set of patients to further examine determinants and predictors of factors leading to substance use/abuse.
  • Clinical Researcher - JFK Johnson Rehabilitation Institute, Edison, NJ (2015-2017) Case Series investigating the association of audiology processing as a potential non-motor symptom of Parkinson’s Disease.
  • Clinical Researcher - Emergency Medicine - Newark Beth Israel Medical Center, Newark, NJ (May 2015-Sept 2015) Retrospectively reviewed advanced life support (ALS) patient care reports in patients who were revived by first responder intranasal Narcan and attempted to identify patient care characteristics predictive of required re-dosing by ALS.
